How do I replace a lost green card?

If you have lost your green card, commonly known as your permanent resident card, you must replace it by filing an Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90). This is the only form that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will accept when replacing a lost green card. For this form, you must provide an explanation of why you need to replace your card, as well as two passport-style photos. You will also need to provide additional documents from the list on Form I-90, such as a copy of your birth certificate, to prove that you are a Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States. In Michigan, you can file Form I-90 online at the USCIS website, by mail, or in person at a USCIS Field Office. You must pay an application fee of $455, and either biometric or biographical fees of $85. It may take up to 12 weeks to receive a response to your application. If you have any questions or need more information, you can contact the USCIS Field Office for Michigan. The USCIS website also provides additional resources on filing Form I-90 and replacing the green card.
