The process for filing an application for an O-1 visa in Washington is fairly straightforward. The first step is to file Form I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker, along with the associated fees. This form requires the applicant to provide personal information, such as a copy of a valid passport, and information about the job, including a detailed description of the job duties, salary, and duration of the employment. The second step of the process is to gather supporting documents. These documents can include evidence of the applicant’s extraordinary ability or achievement, such as awards, degrees, or publications; letters of recommendation from employers or experts in the applicant’s field; and evidence of the applicant’s past or planned future circumstances that distinguish him or her from other workers in the same field. The third step is to submit the application and the supporting documents to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and wait for a decision. In some cases, USCIS may require an interview. If the application is approved, USCIS will issue the applicant an O-1 visa and provide instructions for applying for admission to the United States. Once admitted to the United States, the applicant can begin working in Washington pursuant to the terms of the O-1 visa.
