What is the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)?
The International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is an international agreement that provides standards for the protection of children’s rights worldwide. The CRC was adopted by the United Nations in 1989 and is the most widely accepted international human rights treaty. It sets out a range of civil, political, economic, social, health, and cultural rights that are universally applicable to all children under 18 years old. Under the Convention, all children have the right to life, survival, and development.
