What is the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)?

The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) is an international human rights treaty that works to eliminate discrimination against women and ensure the protection of their basic human rights. The CEDAW is composed of 30 articles which are designed to eliminate discrimination against women, a problem which is still pervasive in many countries around the world. The CEDAW is seen as one of the most important international treaties, as it seeks to end all forms of discrimination against women, from unequal rights in the home to workplace discrimination.
