What are the legal requirements to obtain a marriage license in my state?

In Florida, the legal requirements to obtain a marriage license involve both parties involved. Both of you must appear before the county court judge or a clerk of the circuit court to make a sworn statement that all information on the application is true. You must both be 18 years of age or older or obtain consent of a parent or guardian if you are 16 or 17 years of age. Each of you will need to provide a State or Federal Government-issued picture ID such as a driver’s license or passport as proof of identification and age. If either of you were previously married, you must provide the exact date your last marriage ended. If you were divorced within the last 6 months, you must provide a copy of the final divorce decree. You must also provide the full name of your parents, including your mother’s maiden name. Lastly, the marriage license fee will vary depending on the County that you are getting married in. The fee typically ranges from $30-$95, payable by cash or credit card.
