Currently, all medical marijuana products must be dispensed in a liquid suspension, such as oils, tinctures, or gel capsules. Virginia law does not allow for the sale or possession of medical marijuana products in dried flower form. Additionally, all products must be labeled with the medical marijuana facility’s name, the product’s name, the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) per dose, and a list of ingredients. Furthermore, the THC content must not exceed five milligrams per dose and the total THC content of the marijuana must not exceed a 35 percent concentration. Finally, there is a cap on how much medical marijuana can be dispensed per month, which is currently set at a 30 day supply which is determined by consultation with a medical professional. All medical marijuana products must also be kept in their original packaging and must be labeled with the medical marijuana facility’s name.
