What is the scope of the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution from Ships?

The Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) is a global treaty that sets standards for preventing marine pollution from ships. It is enforced in every maritime nation, including Minnesota. MARPOL includes six annexes, each dealing with different kinds of pollution.
