The license can be obtained from the Department of Revenue. In addition, nonprofits must register with the Washington Secretary of State in order to incorporate and do business in the state. This registration can be done online and requires the submission of documents such as articles of incorporation, conflict of interest policies and copy of the bylaws. Finally, in order to solicit donations in the state, nonprofits must obtain a charitable solicitation license. The license is obtained from the Department of Revenue. This license must be renewed every 12 months, and updated information must be provided to the department. In summary, nonprofit organizations in Washington State must abide by certain reporting requirements, including filing an annual report, obtaining a state business license, registering with the Secretary of State, and obtaining a charitable solicitation license.
