What is the difference between conventional and non-conventional oil and gas production?

Conventional oil and gas production is the extraction of naturally occurring hydrocarbon reserves from underground reservoirs through wells. This is the traditional method of extracting oil and gas and is generally the most common method of production used in West Virginia.
