How often must I meet with my parole officer?
In the state of Massachusetts, parolees have different requirements when meeting with their parole officer. The frequency of parole meetings depends on the type of parole one is assigned and the officer’s discretion. In general, someone on parole must meet with their parole officer at least once a month. If a parolee meets all the requirements and their behavior is deemed satisfactory, parole officers may choose to reduce the frequency of meetings to once every few months. Parole officers also have the authority to order more frequent meetings. This can happen if a parolee violates one of their conditions, such as failing to perform community service or being arrested. Parole officers can also require more meetings if they consider a parolee to be high-risk or if they think the parolee has a high chance of recidivism. It is important to keep in mind that parolee’s must comply with any meeting requirements imposed by their parole officer. Failure to do so may result in a violation of parole and additional legal action. Parolees are also required to contact their parole officer in advance if they cannot make a scheduled meeting. Working together with the parole officer is key to success.
