What is a deed of confirmation?

A deed of confirmation is a legal document used in Oklahoma property law, that serves to confirm an ownership title and to correct an improper title. It is also known as a deed of correction or a deed of confirmation of title. The deed of confirmation is normally used when title documents such as a deed, a certificate of title or an agreement of sale, contain errors or discrepancies. The deed of confirmation is then used to correct those errors and make the title valid, thus confirming the ownership title. In Oklahoma, deeds of confirmation are often used when a property is sold without an actual deed. Because a deed is the legal document that transfers ownership of a property from one person to another, when a deed is not present, a deed of confirmation must be used to give the title to the new owner. Similarly, a deed of confirmation is used to resolve a title dispute, where two or more people claim ownership of the same property. In order to determine the actual titleholder, a deed of confirmation can be used to confirm the rightful owner and help to settle the dispute. One of the main advantages of a deed of confirmation is that it establishes a chain of title. This helps to trace the title of a property from one owner to the next, which helps to ensure legal accuracy and accuracy of the title.
