What is the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system?

The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system is an international agreement that makes it easier and more efficient to obtain patents in multiple countries. Furthermore, the grant of the international patent application does not guarantee that the patent will be granted in all countries, as the applicant must still satisfy the requirements for grant of the patent in each individual country.
