How long will a securities arbitration hearing take?
The length of time a securities arbitration hearing will take in New Hampshire will usually vary depending on the complexity of the dispute and the number of witnesses that need to appear. Most arbitration hearings will last anywhere from one day to five days. In some cases, hearings could last as long as several weeks or longer if the case is especially complex. The securities arbitration hearing process starts when a complaint is filed by an investor against a broker or securities-related company. The complaint is sent to a FINRA panel which is composed of arbitrators who will review the complaint and set a hearing date. During the hearing, both sides will present their evidence and arguments. After the hearing, the arbitrators will issue a final award, which is a decision based on the evidence presented by both sides. Depending on the complexity of the case, it is possible to complete the entire hearing process without taking a lot of time. However, if the case is more complex, the hearing process may take longer since both sides will need ample time to present their evidence and make their arguments. It is important to note that the FINRA arbitration process is designed to provide investors with a speedy resolution to their dispute. Therefore, no matter how complex the case, FINRA usually works to try to resolve the case in a timely manner.
