In Colorado, appeals in small claims court cases can be heard by the district court. The appeal process begins when a party that was dissatisfied with the outcome of the small claims court trial files an appeal with the district court. This must be done within fourteen calendar days of the court’s judgment in the trial. The district court will review the appeal and set a date for a hearing. During the hearing, the appellant has the right to present evidence, call witnesses, and cross-examine witnesses. The court will consider the evidence presented at the trial, as well as the new evidence presented at the appeals hearing.
