How long can I receive Social Security Disability benefits?

In Washington, the amount of time you can receive Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits depends on the severity of your disability. Generally, SSD benefits are available for those who become disabled before reaching their full retirement age. If you become disabled before reaching the retirement age of 65, you may be eligible for SSD benefits for an indefinite period of time. However, your benefits must be reviewed every three years to make sure that you are still disabled and eligible to receive benefits. If you become disabled after reaching full retirement age, you can receive benefits for the rest of your life.
