What is the time limit for contesting a traffic ticket court decision?

In Arizona, you have thirty days from the date of your court’s decision to file a petition for review if you are dissatisfied with the court’s decision. This is known as a “petition for review.” The petition for review must be filed with the court where the trial occurred. The court will review the case and decide if the decision should be affirmed (the original decision stands), or vacated (thrown out). If your petition for review is denied, then you may choose to file a motion for reconsideration, or an appeal to the Supreme Court of Arizona. A motion for reconsideration can be filed with the same court that rendered the original decision. The court will only consider the motion if new evidence is presented which was not available at the time of the trial. If you decide to appeal the court’s decision, you may file a notice of appeal with the Arizona Supreme Court’s Clerk of the Court within thirty days of the court’s decision. After the notice of appeal is filed, the Supreme Court will review the case to determine whether it agrees with the lower court’s decision. In summary, if you are unhappy with the court’s decision in regards to a traffic ticket, you have thirty days from the date of the court’s decision to file a petition for review, a motion for reconsideration, or an appeal to the Supreme Court of Arizona.
