How do I find a VA doctor or hospital?

To find a VA doctor or hospital, first you need to figure out if you are eligible for VA health care in California. If you are a veteran, you may be eligible if you served at least 24 continuous months or the full period for which you were called and had an honorable discharge. Other criteria may apply, and you can find out more at the California VA Health Care website. Once you have determined your eligibility, you can locate a VA hospital or doctor in California by using the VA’s online facility locator. This searchable database allows you to search for VA hospitals, outpatient clinics and other facilities in California. You can also call 1-800-827-1000 to speak with an eligibility counselor or look for a VA health care provider in the Bluebook, which is published annually and contains descriptions of all VA medical centers, outpatient clinics and community-based outpatient clinics in California. It is important to note that, in addition to VA health care, veterans in California may also be eligible for benefits such as home loan guaranty, compensation and vocational rehabilitation. For more information on these and other veterans benefits, you can visit the California Veterans Services website.
