What is the VA Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program and how do veterans qualify?

The VA Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program is a program offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to help veterans with service-connected disabilities obtain and maintain gainful employment. The program is designed to provide comprehensive services to help veterans prepare for, find, and keep employment. To be eligible, veterans must have a disability rating from the VA, must be released from active duty under other than dishonorable conditions, must have a documented service-connected impairment, and must demonstrate an employment handicap. Services provided under the program include: assessment, counseling, job and career planning services, training, education, job placement and readjustment services. Through these services, veterans can gain the skills and resources needed to find and keep employment. In Delaware, veterans can apply for the program by submitting the VA Form 28-1900, Application for Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Services. The form is available online or can be requested from your local VA office. After submitting the application, veterans can contact their local VA office to make an appointment with a Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment counselor. This counselor will review the application and provide a comprehensive plan to help veterans learn the skills and resources needed to find and maintain a suitable job. The VA Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program in Delaware can provide veterans with the necessary resources, support, and training to find and maintain employment. With the help of the program, veterans can gain the skills needed to carry out their desired career paths.
