What are the service requirements for veterans disability benefits?
In Tennessee, veterans who wish to receive disability benefits must meet certain service requirements. Generally, they must have served a minimum of 90 days of active military service, with at least one of those days taking place during a time of declared war. Additionally, veterans must have been discharged from the service under conditions other than dishonorable. In addition, service-connected disabilities must be determined by one of the following criteria: a current disability as determined by the Veterans Affairs (VA) or a disability that was suffered or aggravated during active duty, or a disability that is related to military service in a manner that is recognized by the VA. Additionally, there are certain classification requirements that must be met in order to qualify for veterans disability benefits. Generally speaking, veterans must be classified as "disabled veterans" by the VA in order to receive disability benefits. This classification is determined by the severity of the disability and the extent to which it is connected to military service. Veterans who are currently receiving VA disability benefits may be eligible for additional benefits if their condition changes or becomes worse over time. It is important to note that veterans must continue to meet these service requirements in order to remain eligible for these benefits.
