What types of vocational rehab are available?
Vocational rehabilitation, also known as VR, is an important part of the Veterans Disability Law in California. VR is a program designed to help veterans with disabilities prepare for, find, and keep suitable employment. In addition to helping veterans gain the skills and qualifications needed for employment, VR also provides other support and assistance. In California, VR services are offered by both the state’s Department of Veteran Affairs and the Department of Rehabilitation. These departments provide vocational assessment and testing, educational counseling and evaluation, job training and placement, and other services to help veterans become successful in the workforce. The Department of Veteran Affairs specifically offers a wide variety of vocational rehabilitation services. These include the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program, which provides resources to veterans with disabilities that prevent them from maintaining gainful employment. The department also offers the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program and the Services for Veterans in Transition Program, which both provide additional support for veterans seeking employment. The Department of Rehabilitation offers similar services, such as the Vocational Services Program. This program assists veterans with disabilities to reach their educational and career goals. The department also offers the Supported Employment and Career Services Program, which provides services to veterans that may need help finding and maintaining employment. In addition, veterans can also access services and resources through organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. These organizations offer help with job readiness, education, and career training, as well as other support services. Overall, veterans in California have access to a variety of vocational rehabilitation services and support, which can help them gain the skills and qualifications needed to enter, and stay competitive in, the workforce.
