What are the differences between administrative actions and civil actions?
Administrative actions and civil actions are two very different types of legal proceedings. Administrative actions are handled by administrative agencies which have been given the authority to make decisions and issue orders. These actions are conducted within the agency, rather than in the court system. They are used in cases such as licensing procedures, regulatory enforcement, and other governmental activities. Civil actions, on the other hand, are lawsuits initiated by individuals or organizations in the court system. These lawsuits are used to resolve disputes between individuals or organizations, or to enforce legal rights or obligations. Civil actions can involve contract disputes, personal injury claims, and other civil matters. The main difference between administrative and civil actions is that civil actions involve a decision by a judge, rather than a decision by an administrative agency. In civil cases, both sides present their cases to a judge, who then decides the outcome. An administrative agency, on the other hand, is not subject to judicial review and its decisions are binding. Administrative actions can also differ from civil actions in terms of the relief they provide. Administrative agencies generally have the authority to issue orders, such as penalties, injunctions, or other sanctions. Civil actions, however, often involve monetary damages, which are paid out by the losing party.
