What is the difference between agricultural law and food law?

Agricultural law and food law are related, yet distinct, areas of legal practice. Agricultural law focuses on the legal issues that arise from the farming, ranching, and other agricultural activities that take place on agricultural land and in rural areas. Agricultural law includes many matters related to the ownership and management of agricultural land, agricultural leases, agricultural tax law, water rights, and other related topics. Food law, on the other hand, is the body of laws, regulations, and standards that govern the production, marketing, inspection, and labeling of food products. Food law also applies to the import and export of food products, as well as to the safety and handling of food products. This includes laws and regulations related to food labeling, food safety, food additives, and food recall procedures. In Florida, agricultural law is heavily regulated by the state Department of Agriculture and other federal and state agencies. Food laws, meanwhile, are regulated by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Both of these agencies are responsible for enforcing laws related to the production, handling, marketing, and labeling of food products.
