What is the FAA's role in aircraft noise control?
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plays a significant role in aircraft noise control in Texas. The FAA establishes and enforces the aviation regulations and standards that all aircraft must adhere to in order to ensure a safe and efficient national airspace system. In addition to safety regulations, the FAA is responsible for initiatives that reduce aircraft noise impacting communities near airports. The FAA has implemented the Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT) that allows for the prediction of aircraft noise levels from takeoff to landing.
