What is the process for obtaining an aircraft export certificate?

In Louisiana, anyone wishing to obtain an aircraft export certificate must first file a notice of export application with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This application must include an Aircraft Export Certificate of Airworthiness form and a description of the aircraft being exported, including the serial number, model year, manufacturer and location. Once the application has been submitted, the FAA will review the information and determine if the aircraft is eligible for certification. If the aircraft is found to be eligible, the FAA will issue an export certificate for the aircraft. The FAA will also provide the applicant with an Airworthiness Certificate and an Aircraft Radio Station License, if applicable. The applicant then needs to submit the appropriate fees and paperwork to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in Louisiana. The CAA will then verify that all of the paperwork is in order before issuing the export certificate. Once the CAA has issued the export certificate, the applicant must then submit a filing with the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). The CBP will then review the information and approve the export if all of the requirements have been met. Once the export is approved, the aircraft can be exported from the United States. The applicant should keep in mind that the export certificate must be valid for at least six months from the date of certification, and the aircraft must be serviced and inspected by the CAA before being exported from Louisiana.
