What are airman and aircraft certificates?

Airman and aircraft certificates are legal documents granted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which authorize certain individuals and aircraft to operate in the airspace of Minnesota and other states. To be an airman, an individual must comply with the qualifications and provisions of the FAA regulations. These include passing knowledge and practical tests, as well as meeting age, medical, and other requirements. After a successful completion of these tests, the FAA issues an airman certificate that is valid for up to two years. This certificate allows the holder to operate as a pilot, mechanic, or other airman in the state of Minnesota. Aircraft certificates authorize an aircraft to be operated in a certain airspace. In order to obtain one, the aircraft must pass an airworthiness inspection and meet the requirements of the FAA regulations. Upon successful completion, an aircraft certificate is issued which is valid for the rest of the useful life of the aircraft. This certificate allows the holder to operate the aircraft safely and legally in Minnesota. Overall, airman and aircraft certificates are important documents which the FAA issues so that pilots and aircraft can operate in Minnesota airspace. They provide assurance that the holder has met the requirements and can safely operate in the state.
