What is the process for obtaining an air carrier certificate?

In Florida, obtaining an air carrier certificate is a multi-step process. The first step is to select an organization type, which is either a corporation with limited liability or a non-profit business. It is important to note that corporate entities must have a valid registration with the Florida Business Division and provide the latest financial statements. Next, the applicant must submit a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Form-7210, the air carrier application package, to the FAA. The form must include an operational specification which outlines the forms of aviation services the carrier proposes to offer and a description of its organizational structure. After submitting the form, the applicant must obtain a certificate of airworthiness from the FAA. The next step is to obtain a Surety Bond, which is a financial guarantee that the applicant will pay any damages caused while providing air services. This bond must be issued by an FAA approved Surety Company. Finally, the applicant must submit a copy of the bond certificate, the airworthiness certificate, and a copy of the air carrier application package to the FAA office in charge of certification. After processing the application, the FAA will mail the air carrier certificate to the applicant.
