What are the rules and regulations regarding crew rest and duty time?
In North Carolina, aviation law requires that all crew members must follow specific regulations when it comes to rest and duty times. These regulations aim to ensure the safety of everyone on board the aircraft, as well as on the ground. The amount of rest that each member of the flight crew must receive depends on the length and time of their duty day. Generally, pilots must receive nine consecutive hours of rest time before their next flight duty day. Flight attendants must receive eight consecutive hours of rest time, including at least seven hours of uninterrupted sleep. In addition to rest, the duty time of any crew member is also strictly regulated. Pilots’ hours are limited to a maximum of 100 hours of duty time within a 28-day period. Flight attendants’ hours are limited to a maximum of 85 hours of duty time within a 28-consecutive-day period. Furthermore, pilots must also receive at least 24 hours of rest in between duty days. This is meant to reduce fatigue, which can be hazardous in a high-pressure job like aviation. All of these regulations must be followed if a flight crew is to remain in compliance with the law. Overall, North Carolina aviation law has strict regulations in place regarding crew rest and duty times for the safety of everyone involved. It is important for crew members to understand their individual rest and duty times so as to remain in compliance with the law.
