What are the requirements for aircraft navigational equipment?
In California, aircraft must be equipped with navigational equipment and meet the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA requires all aircraft to be able to navigate safely and efficiently in all types of airspace. This includes having the ability to correctly identify and display a wide range of navigational information. The minimum equipment requirements for California aircraft are the same as those outlined in the 14 CFR Part 91 regulations for such aircraft. These regulations include having a navigation system that allows the aircraft to maintain its position and stay on its course, and also to navigate to and from airports. The navigational equipment requirements include an onboard GPS receiver, a navigation map, an altimeter, a communication system and a transponder. All of these devices must be in good working order and meet the requirements of the FAA. The navigation system should also be able to provide accurate information about weather, terrain, and other visual cues to the pilot and crew. It should also be able to receive broadcast navigation signals and provide navigation guidance to the aircraft. Finally, the aircraft should be equipped with a flight data recorder. This device records all the flight data, including the altitude, airspeed, and heading of the aircraft, and is essential for conducting a proper investigation of any accident or incident involving the aircraft.
