Who is liable if I am injured on a bicycle due to a defective product?

In Washington, a person who is injured on a bicycle due to a defective product may be able to seek compensation from the manufacturer, retailer, or distributor who sold the product. Generally, the law requires that all defective products that are sold must be safe for the user and must meet certain standards of quality and safety. If it can be shown that the defective product was the direct cause of the injury, then all parties involved in distributing and selling the product may be liable. This includes the manufacturer of the product, the retailer or distributor who sold the product, and any other party who had ownership or control over the product before it was sold. The manufacturer of the product may be held liable if they knew or should have known that the product was defective and failed to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of the product. The retailer or distributor may be liable if they failed to properly inspect the product before selling it. In order to hold any of these parties liable, it must be shown that the product was defective and that it was the direct cause of the injury. In addition, the injured party must also prove that they were not at fault. If successful, the injured party may be able to recover damages for their medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other expenses related to the injury.
