Are there any restrictions on cannabis packaging and labelling?

Yes, in Texas, there are restrictions on cannabis packaging and labelling. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, all cannabis products must be packaged in a resealable, tamper-evident container to ensure it remains secure and unadulterated. The container must also include information identifying the type and amount of cannabis contained within. In addition, the label must include health warnings, the net weight or volume of the product, and the THC concentration. Labels and containers must also include certain language, such as “Keep out of reach of children” and “For adult use only”. Labels must also contain the information of the product’s manufacturer or the seller. The sale of “edible” cannabis products, or products intended to be consumed, is currently prohibited in Texas. Packaging or labeling edible cannabis products can result in criminal prosecution. Other than the restrictions mentioned, Texas law does not appear to impose further requirements on cannabis packaging and labelling.
