Are there restrictions on cannabis possession for out-of-state visitors?

In Mississippi, there are restrictions on cannabis possession for out-of-state visitors. Cannabis is illegal in the state, and it is illegal for anyone to possess, cultivate, or distribute cannabis for any reason. Possession of up to 30 grams or just over one ounce of cannabis is considered a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail, a $250 fine, or both. Possession of more than 30 grams is considered a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison, a $1000 fine, or both. Mississippi has also recently passed a medical cannabis law, but the law puts stringent requirements on what medical cannabis can contain, who can qualify, and how it can be distributed. Out-of-state visitors would not be able to access medical cannabis in Mississippi, as it is only available to those with valid Mississippi medical cards. Therefore, while out-of-state visitors may possess cannabis, they are encouraged to only do so when in a state where it is legal to possess and there are no restrictions on the amount that can be possessed.
