Are there limits on the amount of cannabis that can be purchased at one time?
In Texas, there are limits on the amount of cannabis that can be purchased at one time. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the amount of cannabis that can be purchased on any single day is limited to three-fourths of an ounce. Any person who is found to have in their possession more than three-fourths of an ounce of cannabis can be charged with a misdemeanor. The possession of any amount of cannabis for personal use is considered illegal in Texas under the current law. The possession of any amount of cannabis greater than four ounces is considered a felony and can result in up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. The sale of any amount of cannabis in Texas is considered a felony, regardless of the amount, and is punishable by a minimum of 180 days in jail and a $10,000 fine. The state of Texas does provide certain medical cannabis products with low amounts of THC for individuals who have a qualified medical condition. These products, however, must be purchased through a dispensary with a special medical cannabis license. The amount of cannabis that can be purchased from a dispensary at one time is determined by the licensed physician who is issuing the prescription. Therefore, when purchasing cannabis for personal use in Texas, there are limits on the amount that can be purchased at one time and the penalties for possession or sale of any amount of cannabis can be severe.
