Are there limits on the amount of cannabis that can be purchased at one time?

Yes, there are limits on the amount of cannabis that can be purchased in Virginia at one time. According to the Virginia Department of Health, a patient or their designated caregiver may purchase up to a thirty-day supply of medical cannabis, or up to a ninety-day supply if the patient is recommended to use a specific product. This amount is determined by the treating practitioner and must be indicated on the patient’s written certification. For recreational use, adults 21 years of age or older are allowed to possess up to one ounce of cannabis. The Virginia General Assembly also recently passed legislation that allows for the purchase of up to five ounces of cannabis concentrates. In addition, adults may cultivate up to four cannabis plants, either indoors or outdoors, with no more than two mature plants. There are strict limits on what can be purchased at once, as well laws regulating the sale and consumption of cannabis. These laws are in place to ensure that cannabis is accessed and used responsibly.
