Applicants must also meet specific requirements for operating in areas that are primarily residential or are within 600 feet from a school or other sensitive areas. Finally, before obtaining a license, applicants must pass an extensive background check. Most licensing authorities require that applicants show a clean criminal record and that they have no pending criminal charges or convictions related to activities involving cannabis. Upon meeting all the necessary qualification standards and passing the background check, applicants can then apply for and receive a license from the Bureau of Cannabis Control.
