What is Title VII of the Civil Rights Act?
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act is a federal law that protects people from discrimination based on certain characteristics known as “protected classes”, such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, and disability. Title VII was passed by Congress in 1964 as part of the Civil Rights Act and applies to many employers and educational institutions nationwide.
