What is a class-action lawsuit?

A class-action lawsuit is a legal action that is brought together by a group of people who have been affected by a single issue or product. In a class-action lawsuit, one or more individuals of a group represent the entire group in a lawsuit. The lawsuit is filed on behalf of all members of the group, and any settlements or awards are distributed to the group. In Oklahoma, Dangerous Products Law outlines the rights and responsibilities of manufacturers, retailers, and consumers when it comes to dealing with the possibility of hazardous products. Under this law, if an individual is affected by a defective product they can join a class-action lawsuit, as long as all the claimants share the same fundamental facts and legal claims. A class-action lawsuit can be an effective way to protect consumer rights, and to make sure that a large group of people get their due back from a negligent company. In these cases, a single person or law firm often represents the entire group, and legal fees and costs are sharing among the group members. It is important to note that class-action lawsuits can also be ineffective if the group members’ claims are not strong enough to support the case.
