What is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)?
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal civil rights law that makes it unlawful to discriminate against people with disabilities. The ADA was signed into law in 1990 and has since then been widely accepted both nationally and in Minnesota. The ADA prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in all areas of public life, including employment, transportation, public accommodations, communications, and access to state and local government programs and services.
