What is the minimum wage for disabled workers?
In Delaware, disabled workers are entitled to the same minimum wage rate as non-disabled workers. According to the Delaware Department of Labor, the current minimum wage rate is $9.25 per hour as of June 1, 2019. This rate is applicable to all employees in Delaware, regardless of disability status. Although disabled workers are entitled to the same minimum wage rate as all other Delaware employees, employers in Delaware are required to provide certain accommodations for disabled workers. These accommodations may include such things as providing assistive technology, changing the physical layout of the workplace, providing readers or interpreters, and modifying work schedules. In addition to paying disabled workers the minimum wage rate, employers in Delaware are also required to provide certain benefits such as temporary disability insurance and leave for treatment of medical conditions. These benefits are designed to help disabled workers stay in the workforce and earn an adequate income. Overall, disabled workers in Delaware are entitled to the same minimum wage as non-disabled workers. Employers must provide these workers with certain accommodations and benefits, depending on their individual needs. These laws are designed to ensure that disabled workers have the same opportunities as their non-disabled counterparts.
