What are my rights as a disabled person when accessing public transportation?
In Virginia, people with disabilities have multiple rights when accessing public transportation. The first right is that all public transportation systems in Virginia must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. This means that public transportation must be accessible and, when possible, provide accommodations to disabled riders. The second right is that disabled persons are entitled to access public transportation at the same cost as other riders.
