In Washington State, employers are required to make accommodations for victims of domestic abuse under a few different laws. Additionally, the Washington State Family Care Act requires employers with more than 50 employees to provide up to 16 hours of unpaid leave each year for employees to attend to the needs of their family members who are victims of domestic abuse. This leave may be used for medical, legal, or counseling services, as well as to attend court hearings or participate in safety planning.
