What is a disability review?
A disability review is an important part of disability planning law in Rhode Island. It is a process used to determine whether an individual qualifies for disability benefits from the state. During a disability review, a qualified individual is assessed for their ability to work and to perform daily activities. A medical professional reviews an individual’s medical history and completes a physical and mental exam to determine their current level of functioning. The individual is also asked to provide information about the severity of their impairment and the type of assistance they need to perform day-to-day tasks. The purpose of the disability review is to determine whether an individual is eligible for any disability benefits, as well as to create a plan for how the individual can best manage their disability if they are eligible. The review also evaluates the individual’s capacity to work and assesses any limitations they might have, such as physical restrictions. The review also helps to develop an individualized plan to ensure that the individual is able to remain healthy and participate in their activities of daily living. While the process may be intimidating, it is important that individuals understand the importance of the disability review in ensuring that they receive the benefits they are entitled to. By completing a disability review, individuals can understand the nature of their disability, identify any limitations or restrictions, and develop a plan for managing their disability.
