What is the voting age in the United States?

In the United States, the voting age is set at 18 years of age or older for federal elections. According to the 26th Amendment to the United States Constitution, the legal voting age for all citizens nationwide is established at 18 years old. In Arkansas, the legal voting age is also 18 years old. According to the state’s election law, anyone who is at least 18 years old on Election Day is eligible to vote. The state does not allow citizens under the age of 18 to vote in either state or local elections. Arkansas also has specific rules for obtaining an absentee ballot. A voter must meet one of four criteria to be eligible for an absentee ballot: be a member of the armed forces, be absent from the state on Election Day, suffer from a physical or mental illness, or have a religious obligation on the day. The state requires individuals to register to vote at least 30 days before an election in order to be eligible. Voter registration forms can be obtained either at county clerks offices or online. Arkansas also has same-day registration for in-person voting. All eligible citizens who show up on Election Day must register in person in order to cast their ballot.
