How do I register to vote?

In California, registering to vote is easy. All you need is to be a United States citizen and resident of California who is 18 years old or older on Election Day. You will also need to provide an official form of identification and California residence. First, you need to get a voter registration form. You can get one online, at your local Department of Motor Vehicles, post office, public library, or county elections office. To fill out your form, you will need to provide your name, address, and date of birth. Once you have your form filled out, sign it and mail or hand-deliver it to your county elections office. If you are registering at least 15 days before the election, you will receive a card in the mail confirming your registration. Your name will be put on the voter list, and you can then cast your ballot on Election Day. If you miss the 15-day deadline, you can still register to vote on the same day as the election at your county elections office. You will need to fill out an affidavit and show proof of your identity and California residency. Registering to vote is important in California. By doing so, you can make sure your voice is heard and help decide who will lead our state.
