How often is a guardianship review required?
In the state of Kansas, guardianship reviews are typically required at least once every three years. This is subject to change, however, depending on the individual’s circumstances. If there is any concern about the guardianship or about the individual’s welfare, the reviews may be done more frequently. The purpose of the guardianship review is to review the individual’s status and make sure they are being taken care of properly. During the review process, the court will review the current guardian’s plans and activities in caring for the individual’s needs. This includes making sure the individual’s essential needs are being met, such as medical care, financial support, and daily care. The court will also review the guardian’s performance to make sure the individual’s finances are managed properly. The court may also use the review process to adjust the guardianship plan as needed. This could include selecting a new guardian if the current one is not meeting the individual’s needs, or adjusting the length of the guardianship depending on the individual’s circumstances. This review process helps ensure that the individual is receiving the appropriate level of care and protection.
