What are the different types of human rights?

Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that all people are entitled to simply because they are human. In the State of Texas, these are generally maintained and protected through Human Rights Law. The various types of human rights can be broken down into three categories: civil and political rights, economic rights, and social and cultural rights. Civil and political rights are rights that are designed to protect freedom and security, such as the right to a fair trial, the right to life, liberty, and security, the right to freedom of opinion and expression, the right to freedom of assembly and association, and the right to vote. Economic rights are rights that seek to ensure access to the basic necessities of life, such as the right to an adequate standard of living, the right to education, the right to work, the right to food, and the right to health care. Social and cultural rights are rights that ensure that individuals can interact with each other and enjoy the benefits of society, including the right to take part in culture, the right to leisure, the right to a social security system, and the right to join a trade union. In general, Human Rights Law in the State of Texas seeks to protect all of these rights to ensure that all people in the state have access to the basic freedoms and security that they are entitled to by virtue of their humanity.
