What is a supplemental insurance policy?

A supplemental insurance policy, also known as a rider, is a type of insurance coverage added to an existing policy to provide additional protection. In Arizona, a supplemental insurance policy is an extra layer of coverage that provides additional benefits that are not necessarily offered in the original policy. For example, a supplemental policy may provide coverage for expensive medical treatments or specialized care that is not covered by the original policy, or it may provide additional protection for items, such as jewelry or collectibles, that are not covered by the original policy. A supplemental policy can also be used to increase the coverage limits of an existing policy. For example, if the existing policy has a maximum coverage limit of $100,000, a supplemental policy can be added to increase the maximum coverage limit to $200,000. To be eligible for a supplemental policy, you must already have an existing insurance policy, and the supplemental policy must be endorsed by the insurance company.
