The difference between an immigration judge and an immigration officer is in the roles they play in deportation proceedings. In short, an immigration judge is responsible for presiding over immigration court proceedings and making decisions about an individual’s eligibility for relief from deportation, while an immigration officer is responsible for enforcement and investigations related to immigration.
