What are the eligibility requirements for an EAD?

An EAD, also known as an Employment Authorization Document, is a form of identification that is issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that allows foreign citizens or nationals the ability to work in the United States. In Washington, eligibility requirements for an EAD include being a foreign citizen or national who has been authorized by USCIS to work in the United States, having a valid alien registration number, being part of a nonimmigrant visa category, having a pending asylum application, or having been granted T or U visa status. Additionally, applicants must have an approved USCIS form I-765, which is the Application for Employment Authorization, and a valid Form I-94, which is the Arrival/Departure Record to confirm their nonimmigrant status. The applicant must also provide proof of identity and any other relevant documents that may be required by USCIS, such as a marriage certificate, birth certificate, or passport. Furthermore, the applicant must be physically located in the United States when they apply and must not be subject to any statutory bars or grounds of deportability. Finally, the applicant must have not been convicted of any crime or have any government debt.
