What is an O visa?

An O visa is a type of temporary visa granted to individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement in the fields of art, science, business, education, or athletics. This type of visa is also available to people who work in the entertainment industry (movies, television, radio, and theatre). This can be demonstrated through a national or international recognition of achievement in the form of awards, prizes, or other marks of distinction. Alternatively, individuals may prove their extraordinary ability by showing that they have a degree of knowledge and skill that is significantly above that normally found in the field. In Florida, O visas may be issued to individuals who are looking to work or perform services in their fields in the state. To do this, the visa applicant must show that their entry into the United States is for a job or project in Florida, and that the employment is related to their field of expertise and skill. Furthermore, the individual must also demonstrate to the U.S. department of Homeland Security that they will not displace any other U.S citizen or legal resident for the job in question.
