What documents are required for an immigration application?

In Virginia, there are many different documents that are required to be submitted in an immigration application. For applicants who are seeking permanent residency, also referred to as a green card, they must submit a form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. This form is used to establish a foreign citizen’s eligibility for a green card. Applicants must also submit Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination. This form shows that the applicant has had a medical examination by a civil surgeon and has been vaccinated, as required by U.S. immigration law. In addition to these forms, applicants must also provide a birth certificate, passport photos, proof of financial support, and a copy of their passport. In order to get an employment-based green card, applicants must also submit evidence of their qualifications, such as degrees, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and proof of experience in the relevant field. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website provides more information about all the required documents. In addition to the documents listed above, all applicants must also pay a filing fee and may have to provide additional information or documents. USCIS officers may also ask applicants to demonstrate English proficiency and provide evidence of their criminal history. All of this information is necessary to ensure that immigrants to the United States are able to abide by U.S. law and contribute to the country.
